I have these masks you see,

One on top of the other to protect me.

Protect me from the pain.

Anger.

And corruption that you try to wedge into my brain.

There's so much hurt.

Heartbreak.

Sadness.

Behind these masks.

Sometimes they put me in a dark place,

Sometimes it's my escape to tell myself that,

"It's alright… Don't cry. You're so strong. Don't let them weaken you."

Sometimes my masks make it worse.

They make me heartless, and hurtful to the people I love.

I don't mean it…

But, without these masks I'm so helpless…

So alone.

So weak.

Did you know?

No. My masks rarely crack or falter.

You think I'm normal.
